In the summer of
2000, local businessman, decided it was time to give something back
to the community. He, along with several friends, decided to do a variety show
and dinner to support a local charity.
They joined forces
with the Tri-County Aids Coalition and the first “Evening of Entertainment and
Illusion” debuted on January 27-28, 2001. The result was a $10,000.00 donation
to the Tri-County Aids Coalition.
The Spring of 2001 brought many new board
members and the creation of what is now Friends Together for Life, Inc. a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds for local charities with an
emphasis on HIV/AIDS related causes.
At a board meeting held July, 2008 by unanimous vote the organization refined its mission, vision and philosophy. At the same time the organization took on the name The Red Ribbon Connection, to better reflect the misson of the organization. The Red Ribbon Connection is also now a service organization and no longer a funding organization.
